You can upload PowerPoint file to OneDrive in the same way as you would upload any other type of file such as a Word or Excel document, on any other file, and then share your files with anyone or everyone. Yes, any PowerPoint files you upload this way are available within PowerPoint Online. Additionally, you can upload only PowerPoint files from within PowerPoint Online.

Slide Area

Many new changes have happened within PowerPoint Online and several other versions released in the past. However, one thing that has not changed in the last or three decades is PowerPoint's tri-paned interface! This tri-paned interface can also be found in PowerPoint Online, the browser-based version of PowerPoint. Why is the interface called tri-paned? Are there three distinct regions within the PowerPoint Online interface? Yes, the Slide Area is one of three principal regions in PowerPoint Online, the other two being the Slides Pane and the Notes Pane.

Backstage View – Info Pane

Editing options available within PowerPoint Online are limited compared to the desktop versions of PowerPoint. When you explore options within Backstage View of PowerPoint Online, you can find that there’s almost no feature to control interface elements. The options here mainly accomplish basic tasks such as sharing, saving, downloading, etc. In this tutorial, let us explore the options within the Info pane of PowerPoint Online's Backstage view.

Yes, PowerPoint Online has fewer options compared to desktop versions of PowerPoint. You cannot export videos, and there’s no feature to control interface elements. However, basic options exist within Backstage View that let you accomplish basic tasks such as sharing, saving, printing, and downloading, etc. In this tutorial, we will explore the Print option.

Task Pane

The Task Pane is a docked area within the PowerPoint 2016 interface that provides more options than dialog boxes. Also, unlike most dialog boxes which cover the Slide Area, you can view both the active slide(s) and the Task Pane at the same time. The Task Pane, therefore, provides a more streamlined experience. In fact, all the options within the Format dialog boxes from older versions of PowerPoint are now available within the new Format Task Panes in PowerPoint 2016.
