PowerPoint Online
Slides Pane
PowerPoint Online's work area below the Ribbon is tri-paned. These three panes comprise the Slides Pane, the Slide Area, and the Notes Pane. The Slides Pane is the strip on the left side of the PowerPoint Online interface that contains thumbnails of all your slides.
Notes Pane
PowerPoint Online's tri-paned interface has three regions: the Slides Pane, the Slide Area, and the Notes Pane. The Notes Pane is placed right below the Slide Area, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1. The Notes Pane provides space to add speaker's n otes that can be so helpful to the presenter while presenting. You can also write any sort of information about the presentation or individual slide.

Presentation Gallery
When launched, PowerPoint 2016 typically opens the Presentation Gallery. This Presentation Gallery provides several ways to start your next presentation using a template, a Theme, a recent presentation, a not-so-recent presentation, or even a blank presentation. These and other choices are explained in this tutorial.
Ribbon and Tabs
The Ribbon is the long strip comprising tabs with buttons across the top of the main window within the PowerPoint interface. Since PowerPoint 2007, the Ribbon has replaced all the menus and toolbars that were found in PowerPoint 2003 and older versions. The Ribbon contains almost all the commands you need to work with your slides, and is designed in a way that helps you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task. You no longer have to search commands endlessly through
many menus and sub-menus.
Status Bar
The Status Bar is a thin strip located at the bottom of the PowerPoint 2016 interface. This area provides information about the active slide and also provides several View options. To work with options in the Status Bar, you must have a presentation open in PowerPoint 2016; otherwise the options within the Status Bar will be grayed out.
